Windows 11 minimum requirements greater than Windows 10

Microsoft has announced the minimum requirements for properly installing the Windows 11 operating system and accessing early preview versions.

The new hardware requirements are more demanding than Windows 10, and are compatible with most modern computers.

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
RAM: 4 gigabytes (GB)
Storage: 64 GB or larger storage device

System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
TPMs: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
Graphics card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
Display: High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9 ”diagonally, 8 bits per color channel
Internet connection and Microsoft accounts:  Windows 11 Home they need an internet connection and a Microsoft account to complete the installation.

 

Switching Windows 11 Home to S mode requires an internet connectivity connection.

For all versions of Windows 11, an internet connection is required for updates - upgrades. THE Microsoft license required for some features.

The notable change in the new system requirements is that Windows 11 now requires at least two or more CPU cores, 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 GB of free storage, which is higher than Windows 10.

However, we do not know if Windows 11 will work well with these minimum requirements. We consider it safer to have at least 8 GB of RAM.

Microsoft has released an application "PC HealthCheck»That can be used to check if your device meets the minimum requirements of Windows 11.

However, this application does not tell you what requirements your computer does not meet.

Microsoft also announced different hardware requirements for using specific features in Windows 11:

5G support requires a modem with 5G capability.
Auto HDR requires an HDR screen.
Bit Locker to Go requires a USB flash drive (available on Windows Pro and later).
Client Hyper-V requires a processor with secondary address translation capabilities (SLAT) (available on Windows Pro and later).
Cortana requires a microphone and speaker and is currently available on Windows 11 for Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and United States.
DirectStorage requires an NVMe 1 TB or larger SSD to store and run games using the Standard NVM Express Controller driver and a DirectX 12 Ultimate GPU.
DirectX 12 Ultimate is available with supported and graphics chips.
Presence requires a sensor that can detect human distance from the device or intention to interact with the device.
Smart video conferencing requires video, microphone and speaker (audio output).
Multiple Voice Assistant (MVA) requires a microphone and speaker.
Snap three-column layouts require a screen with a width of 1920 active pixels or more
Mute / Unmute from the taskbar requires a camcorder, microphone and speaker (audio output). The application must be compatible with the function to enable mute / unmute worldwide.
Spatial Sound requires hardware and software support.
The Teams app requires a camcorder, microphone and speaker (audio output).
Touch requires a screen that supports multi-touch.
Two-factor authentication requires the use of a PIN, biometric (fingerprint reader or illuminated infrared camera) or Wi-Fi or Bluetooth enabled telephone.
Voice typing requires a computer with a microphone.
Wake on Voice requires a Power model and a Modern Standby microphone.
