Windows 11 forces the installation of more apps

With Microsoft, there is a constant game as the company tries to add more and more elements to its operating system without the user's consent. Users constantly oppose these efforts by removing unwanted applications, and the game continues.

Microsoft will soon force the installation of certain programs to improve your productivity.

According to a new message in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, the company will soon begin rolling out the new Microsoft 365 Companion apps: People, Calendar, and Files. They were initially released as optional, but will become mandatory on Windows 11 PCs with Microsoft 365. Microsoft confirmed the automatic installations in August, and now we have a timeline.

“ Microsoft 365 Companion apps are mini taskbar apps that you can launch in a small window directly from the taskbar to quickly get to some information you need, like a file, a contact, or an event within your organization .”

Microsoft adds that it also needs to integrate Copilot for Artificial Intelligence assistance.

In addition to installing these apps without asking anyone, Microsoft will also launch them automatically when the device boots up. The reason for this, according to the company, is to “ensure that apps display relevant results as soon as users open each app.”
