Microsoft announced in the Windows Insider program that the first version of Windows 11 will be released for testing this week.
In a post, Microsoft explains that 6 years have passed since the first release of Windows 10 and during this period many changes have been made in the hardware of the computers. Because of this, Microsoft has decided to upgrade to the minimum system requirements for Windows 11.
So because of this change, many devices will not be compatible with the new operating system. The company also explained what this means for existing members of Windows Insider.
If you are not a Windows Insider program member
To participate in testing, first sign up for the Insiders program by going to Settings> Update & Security> Windows Insider Program and configuring your computer accordingly. This section will automatically suggest the available options according to your hardware specifications. If your device does not meet the new requirements for Windows 11, then you can subscribe to the Release Preview channel for Windows 10 update testing.
If you are running a preview version of Windows Insider
If you are already a member of Windows Insider, then you should check the table below to see if your computer meets the Windows 11 Insider preview requirements.
The new minimum requirements will also be checked when the system is installed clean of an ISO image, so it is recommended that the computer fully comply with the new requirements. To find out if it meets or not you can use the app PC Health Check or the WhyNotWin11 or the Win11SysCheck.
