Months ago, Microsoft officially announced that it would release Windows 11 on October 5, 2021.
However, it seems that Microsoft could not wait, as Windows 11 is already available, a day earlier than expected.
So if you have a Windows 10 computer that supports Microsoft requirements, you can check Windows Update and you will see that Windows 11 is there waiting for you.
If you don't see them yet - or you have an older computer - you can try upgrading manually using the Setup Assistant.
Unfortunately, those of you with older computers who don't want to upgrade manually will have to wait a while. Especially those with older computers may never upgrade automatically unless Microsoft drops the minimum requirements.
Although Microsoft plans to offer the upgrade for free, it states that the upgrades are expected to be completed by the second half of 2022. Thus, it could take a year for all interested parties to upgrade automatically.
