But let's remind you that experts who had access to the initial version of Windows Recall quickly discovered that the feature stores data in an unencrypted format . In its original implementation, Recall was a privacy nightmare and quite insecure.

Microsoft has released a major new build for Windows Insiders on the Dev and Beta Channel (24H2). Build 26120.3281 is available for download with various improvements to OneDrive, Recall, the taskbar, and other parts of the operating system.

Recall is currently available in preview for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, build 24H2 in the Dev and Beta channels on Copilot+ PCs.

We're improving Recall in the next update. This important update will improve your experience. As part of this upcoming update, your existing snapshots will be deleted.
Recall's filtering options will now be easily accessible via the Recall system tray flyout (shown in the image below) instead of having to configure filtering directly in Settings.

This feature will make the upcoming feature very practical, and more secure, as Recall will not take snapshots of anything on your PC. It will allow you to exclude applications you choose.

The company is only making the upcoming Recall feature available on Copilot+ PCs, so it's forced to listen to community complaints and improve it, as Copilot+ PCs have been a hit in sales.
