Microsoft has released a major update to the Windows 11 Start menu, bringing integration for Android and iPhone devices. This new feature allows users to access text messages, pictures, call history, and even battery status directly from the Start menu, making connecting between devices easier than ever.
Previously, Phone Link was exclusive to Android devices, but with this update, iPhone users can now enjoy the same level of service. To use the feature, you must be running Windows 11 Build 4805 or a later version from the channel. Beta (Build 26120.3000) or the latest version from the developer channel. Additionally, Phone Link must be updated to version 1.24121.30.0 or later and Bluetooth LE support is required.
Once the feature is enabled, you can manage your connected devices from Settings > Personalization > Start. From the Start menu, you'll be able to check your phone's connection status, view recent messages, and even receive calls. However, for more advanced features, you'll need to have access to the full Phone Link application.
Microsoft uses Adaptive Cards technology to power the new Start menu sidebar, which also supports Windows widgets.
This integration is not currently available on Windows 11 Pro Education or Education SKUs. Microsoft continues to improve cross-platform functionality, strengthening Windows 11 as a hub for work and personal use.
George is still wondering what he is doing here….
