The recent Windows 26052 build 11 (Canary and Dev) has some interesting features but they are hidden in the official changelog. But they were spotted by Insiders, who discovered that Microsoft is preparing a new feature in Windows 11 called “Speak for Me”.
Speak for Me doesn't work in build 26052, but you can enable its settings page to see the upcoming feature and its description. The new feature will allow users to teach their system to speak in their personal voices.
According to the description of the feature in the Settings app, Windows 11 will let you "create your own voice avatar or have your own voice" and then use it for online meetings. You'll be able to type something and Windows 11 will speak it using your own voice, not a random inanimate robot voice.
Speak for Me has a dedicated shortcut for quick access. According to the Settings app, the Win + Ctrl + T shortcut will work as a toggle for the Speak for Me feature.
If you want to test the new Speak for Me feature yourself, please update your system to the release 26052 and do the following:
- Download ViveTool by GitHub and extract its files into a folder.
- Start command prompt as administrator.
- Go to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, CD C:\Vive.
- Type vivetool /enable /id:47123936 and press Enter.
- Restart your computer.
Now you can open the Settings app, You will find it under Accessibility > Speak for Me (Accessibility > Speak for Me).
