Windows 11 watermark on incompatible PCs

Forced your PC to install Windows 11 even though it didn't meet the official requirements? Microsoft will start to complain about what you're doing, or at least remind you that it's against the intended use of their operating system.

The Windows 2023 January 11 Update started showing those who forced the update on their PCs a watermark on the desktop warning that system requirements are not being met.ms srdm

The story is circulating on the Windows blogs, although I also found some complaints about the watermark on the official support forums of Microsoft. The watermark says "system requirements not met" and appears in the lower right corner of the desktop.

The most likely culprit could be the security processor or the TPM 2.0 chip (Trusted Platform Module), used by services such as and Windows Hello. Microsoft requires this Module before upgrading. This is also why many computers could not be upgraded when Windows 11 was announced. Most new CPUs and motherboards have the capability built in, but older systems did not.

Of course some users don't care. Getting a new computer to upgrade to a specific operating system it seems outrageous, especially in the age where markets with various passes prevail.

So the Windows community managed to figure out how to force a Windows 11 upgrade on a PC, even though it doesn't support it the hardware.

If you're using Windows 11, even though your system isn't technically compatible, there is a way to remove Microsoft messages from your desktop. In December, a Microsoft Independent Consultant gave some instructions to change the registry file. But note that this will void its warranty on your machine.
