Applications Mail and Calendar have passed their end of support deadline (December 31, 2024) and could stop working at any time.
Have passed over six months since Microsoft announced that it will end support for Windows Mail and Calendar in Windows 11 (and Windows 10). Since this announcement, some are seeing pop-ups in the Mail and Calendar apps asking them to use the new application Outlook.
However, despite the deadline, the Mail and Calendar apps still work. According to what Microsoft said in the support document, the Mail and Calendar apps will only serve as an old email opener without the ability to send or λήψηof new emails from January 1, 2025.
The company says
“Support for Windows Mail, Calendar and People will end on December 31, 2024. We are currently in the process of moving existing users to the new Outlook for Windows. After December 31, 2024, users will no longer be able to send and receive messages ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου χρησιμοποιώντας την Αλληλογραφία και το Ημερολόγιο των Windows. Τυχόν τοπικά μηνύματα ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου, συμβάντα ημερολογίου και επαφές που είναι αποθηκευμένα στην Αλληλογραφία, το Ημερολόγιο και το Άτομα θα εξαχθεί ακολουθώντας τα βήματα που περιγράφονται στο theme Export emails and contacts from Windows Mail or People and import them into the new Outlook. "
Please note that the new Outlook has some issues and does not work offline. We expect updates to be released soon to improve the new Outlook experience.
The new Outlook does not have as many features as the classic Outlook. It doesn't yet support .pst files, but Microsoft says it will soon.
We should also mention that the new Outlook app will have ads that the Mail and Calendar apps didn't have.
Once the Mail and Calendar apps stop working completely, you'll be redirected to the Outlook app every time you try to open them.
If you are still using any of these applications, you should migrate to the new Outlook application, as they may stop working at any time.
Of course you can always try the Thunderbird email client, it's free and ad-free.
