If you grew up making videos with Windows Movie Maker, this is news for you. Long before TikTok and CapCut, this was the tool millions of people used to create their first videos.
But time passes, technology advances, and the good old Movie Maker stopped being released years ago.
X user Katie (@skylerdagirl) uploaded an installation file for Windows Movie Maker 6.0 to the Internet Archive, and according to her post, it has been tested and works flawlessly on Windows 7, 10, and 11.

However, there are a few details you should be aware of. Running classic software on a modern operating system is never guaranteed, so temper your expectations a bit. Windows occasionally detects and/or removes old executables through SmartScreen or Defender, especially those that come from community files rather than an official source.
However, Katie's post has garnered over 200.000 views and thousands of reposts, with many people confirming that the software works for them too. Still, it never hurts to be cautious.
