Everyone who follows our posts will be aware of the controversial Recall feature that Microsoft is preparing for Windows.
Recall was revealed by Microsoft in May 2024 as a key feature of Copilot+ computers. The idea of the new feature is the ability to record the screen of the Windows device every five seconds. This will allow users to find their every activity, through AI.
Of course experts believe that the format of the Recall application was a disaster, as all data collected was stored in a plain text database.
Microsoft seems to have listened to customer feedback and added changes to improve security and protect sensitive data in Recall.
And while the latest Windows 11 update showed that the upcoming Recall feature can be easily removed by users, Microsoft has said that it's just a bug and a fix is coming.
Deskmodder spotted the change last week in the latest 24H2 build of Windows 11, with KB5041865 ostensibly to provide the ability to uninstall Recall from the Windows features section.
"We are aware of an issue where Recall incorrectly appears as an option in the Turn Windows features on or off in Control Panel," said Windows senior product manager Brandon LeBlanc on The Verge.
“This will be fixed in an upcoming update.”
