3. In the registry editor window that opens, go to the left and from there go to the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop

4. Now in the right part of the registry editor look for the REG_DWORD registry key called PaintDesktopVersion. Double-click on it and it should be set to 0 by default. Set its Value data to 1 and click OK.

5. Quit the Registry Editor and log out of your account. Then log back in and you'll see the Windows version and number appear on the desktop in the bottom right.

TIP: To hide the Windows version of your desktop, simply restore PaintDesktopVersion to 0.
