WizTree is a free software for Windows that allows you to analyze and manage your disk space on your computer.
When your hard drive starts to fill up and you need to lighten it up, the invitation is to find out which large files are taking up the most space. Windows File Explorer is not very helpful for this task. So you should turn to third-party tools, such as WizTree.
WizTree is a disk space analyzer that can quickly scan your drive and show you exactly which folders and files are using the most space, both numerically and graphically.
Analysis tools differ from disk cleaners, which automatically remove temporary and cached files. An analyzer like WizTree will simply scan your drive and give you a better picture of what's taking up space so you can decide which files to delete for immediate effect.
WizTree's main advantage is speed. It is extremely fast compared to other disk analysis programs. In our tests, scanning a 255GB SSD took just 5 seconds, and a 1TB mechanical hard drive just 7 seconds.
Although in Filelight we liked better the graphical representation of the occupied space of a disk, WizTree is more direct and also speaks Greek. In fact, its website advertises that it is 46 times faster from WinDirStat, an equally good disk analysis tool.
You can have the results of the analysis between a tree view (which is a colorful view) or a file view, which gives you a more detailed view of individual files.
If you click on a file, it will provide more information about the file, such as location and size, and you can right-click on a block for additional options.
File Viewer lets you find duplicate files, search for files by name or size, and a few other options you might find useful.
It's available as both an installer and a portable application, which is handy if you want to load it onto a USB drive to take with you. It runs on 32 and 64 bit and Windows 11, 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP, Server (2003 and up) versions.
