Last night the new version of WordPress 5.3 was released! It was named “Kirk” in honor of the jazz artist Rahsaan Roland Kirk.

This update brings over 150 new features and enhancements, including enhanced large image support for uploading non-optimized, high resolution photos taken from your smartphone or other high quality cameras. Combined with the larger default image sizes, the images will always look better.
The improvements include the integration of block editor styles in the management panel. These improved styles fix a lot problems accessibility: such as color contrast in form and button fields, standardization in the default WordPress color scheme, and more.
