The World Press Photo competition, organized every year since 1955 by the eponymous non-profit organization based in Amsterdam, awards the best news photos of the year. This year, the contestants exceeded 100 thousand, the judges were only 19, while the photographers who were awarded in the 18 categories of the competition - news, sports, everyday human stories, art and entertainment, portraits, nature, etc. - was 53.
The topic that moved the judges the most this year was immigration and especially the dignity of people who are forced to leave their country for a better life. Winners' photos will be featured on a mobile report photos, which will travel to more than 100 cities in 45 countries of the world. The opening of the exhibition will take place in Amsterdam on April 18, 2014, where the events in honor of the winners will take place on April 24 and 25.
