The Windows System Control Center provides its users with many options. It can be run as a portable application, which makes it ideal for use on USB media.
Allows you to download all available programs to your local device and receive updates for them. Alternatively you can download and run programs only on demand, which saves disk space. Another option you have is to select the programs you want to download to the local system so that they are available all the time.
Note that the security software you are running may prevent some programs from being installed. These tools are not malicious, but some security applications may block them as a precaution.
The application displays options at its first startup, which determine how it will handle programs. In terms of system requirements, it is compatible with all versions of Windows client and server, starting with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. The latest versions, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022, are supported.
WSCC's interface can be customized. It supports many display patterns, from icon display to information content for each of the available programs.
The built-in search uses application names and descriptions for immediacy, which is useful as some of the programs have weird and cryptic names. Screen filters are provided and this can significantly reduce the search.
Double-click a program name or icon to boot it into the system immediately. If it is available locally, meaning it has been previously downloaded, it will start automatically. Otherwise, it must be downloaded first before it can start.
WSCC keeps a history of the applications that are launched, which you can disable in the options.
