According to the WSJ, which cites sources familiar with the matter, Musk is working with Gregg Wyler, a veteran of the satellite industry and a former Google executive who has founded WorldVu Satellites Ltd. In talks with industry executives, Musk and Wyler are said to have discussed launching about 700 satellites, each weighing less than 110 kilograms - about half the size of the smallest satellites telecommunications currently used for commercial purposes. The "constellation" of these satellites would be 10 times larger than the largest "cluster" currently in existence, which is managed by Irirdium Communications.

It is considered that the project would face financial, technical and procedural obstacles, while it is estimated that the related project would require approximately one billion dollars for its development. The people who spoke to the WSJ noted that the venture is still in its early stages, and that Musk's involvement is not entirely certain. However, they reported that Musk and Wyler are considering the possibility factory for the satellites, as discussions have taken place with local officials in Florida and Colorado.

WorldVu is reportedly looking for a partner in the satellite industry to provide expertise / expertise, while launching satellites is likely to take on SpaceX, sources said, although there is no agreement yet.
