WWDC 2017: The new MacBook and the truth

Apple's updated Apple MacBook Pro was presented with somewhat mixed reactions last year due to their specifications. Instead of using the latest Kaby Lake chip, Apple chose Skylake's previous generation chips.

This is what changed in WWDC 2017, as Apple updated all MacBook and MacBook Pro devices with Kaby Lake chips adding some other improvements.

Adding new chips will not dramatically improve device performance and there is no reason to upgrade if you bought a computer of the company last year. But there are some fine advantages to be mentioned.MacBook

You can read the list of specifications if you want from here and here, you just have to know that the Kaby Lake chip will not offer enormous difference from Skylake. It's somewhere at 10 percent faster, depending on what kind of work you do, although Kaby Lake is likely to offer the greatest Y-chip chip improvement on the 12 inch MacBook. It will also offer better embedded graphics and longer battery life, although Apple does not officially report any improvement to the last feature.

A big advantage of Kaby Lake that has little difference from Skylake in terms of processing power is a hardware decoder for 4K with copyright protection (DRM).

Most 4K shows and movies have additional encryption to prevent piracy and require a specialist για την αποκωδικοποίηση.

I imagine it's only a matter of time, and though the MacBook it's not 4K, the extra feature would be greatly appreciated.

Another subtle improvement is that Apple has boosted SSDs that will be "up to 50 percent" faster. This is 3,2 GBps read and 2,2 GBps write speeds (tested on 512 GB disks). If you do a lot of photo or video editing, you will welcome those speeds that are probably more noticeable than the processor upgrade.

Meanwhile, the 15-inch MacBook Pro now comes with AMD Pro 555 in the lowest configuration.

Pricing remained largely the same, except for the MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar starting with $ 1.299 thanks to a new storage format of 128 GB.
