Xiaomi presented its new prototype glasses wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition, weighing 126 grams and with a “retina level” display.
Although the metaverse doesn't seem to have gained the world's attention it expected, social media companies and phone makers alike continue to experiment with the technology which supports it. So at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Xiaomi revealed the news original Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition glasses.
Xiaomi used a pair of MicroLED displays with a maximum brightness of 1.200 nits, as well as light-guiding prisms to recreate an image. The company said that when the PPD (pixels per degree) reaches 60, people cannot perceive individual pixels. Xiaomi AR's glass screen has 58 PPD, so it's pretty close.
Xiaomi said it uses electrochromic lenses to adjust the display in different lighting conditions. The glasses also feature a full blackout feature for an immersive experience, making them feel like a VR headset.
The new AR glasses connect wirelessly to your phone, which should be the Xiaomi 13 series or any other Snapdragon Spaces-ready phone, such as the OnePlus 11.

The company said that using Mi Share, the AR glasses can allow viewers to watch content through apps like TikTok and YouTube.
Users can rely on gestures to move around the interface and even interact with real-life objects. For example, the device allows you to turn on or off a smart bulb or move the screen from the TV to the glasses using gestures.
Smartphone companies are still showing off AR glasses in different shapes and forms, even if they are not available to all users. Xiaomi's domestic rival, the company Oppo, respectively presented the Air Glasses 2, which were released in China last year.
