If the latest rumors are to be believed, Xiaomi could soon add a hidden camera detection feature to its phones.
The company is reportedly preparing to release the next version of HyperOS, HyperOS 2.0, which could include hidden camera detection.
According to a report by XiaomiTime, HyperOS 2.0 could include a feature that would allow supported Xiaomi devices to detect hidden cameras using wireless local area network (WLAN) signals.
Using this feature, users of Xiaomi devices will be able to detect suspicious devices, which are connected to the local Wi-Fi network. Some screenshots of the supposed Hidden Camera Detection feature clearly show the message, “Detect hidden cameras to protect your privacy and personal safety”.
The screenshots also show that users will be able to scan for suspicious devices with one click. Once the new feature is released, you'll be able to tap Start Scan and wait to see if any hidden cameras are detected.
It should be mentioned that this new privacy feature of HyperOS 2.0 seems to be inspired by a program that was developed in Python and it's called Ingram. The Ingram program detects camera vulnerabilities by checking IP addresses. The tool includes additional functions such as signal strength analysis, SSID broadcast, MAC address recognition and network traffic analysis.
