Yahoo becomes the first company to disclose public letters of the United States National Security (FBI).
Today, the Yahoo announced it has received three letters of the FBI for disclosure data and has proceeded to publication of these letters.
The company says this is the first time that one publicly admits that it has received such letters since its reforms US Freedom Act.
It's a bill that passed last year and was created in an effort to rein in government data collection requirements and allow Companies να αμφισβητήσουν τις απαιτήσεις ζήτησης δεδομένων μέσω Επιστολών Εθνικής Ασφαλείας (National Security Letters).
Although the letters that have been publicly disclosed so far provide very little insight into the US government's requests, today's release sheds more light on the secret procedure of the FBI to collect internet users' data.
