A hacker allegedly sells 200 million user Yahoo data to Dark Web and Yahoo knows it.
The 'Peace' hacker is known for the leaks he has carried out from high profile pages such as MySpace and LinkedIn. So this time there are 200 available millions Yahoo accounts for sale on the Dark Web's The Real Deal marketplace.
In an email to Motherboard, Yahoo stated that "we are aware of the situation…"
Below is the canned text that uses all the pages that have been hacked from time to time by hackers:
“We are committed to protecting the security of our users' information and take any such claim very seriously. The team security we work to determine the issues that exist. Yahoo works hard to keep its users safe, and we always encourage our users to build strong codeς access, or use Yahoo Account Key, and use different passwords for different platforms.”
The Motherboard claims that the data includes birthdays, usernames, passwords, and in some cases the back-up of account emails.
Hacker 'Peace' claims that the data is from "2012 probably," and is asking for 3 Bitcoins (about $1.800) to hand over his database.
The Motherboard tasted dozens of Yahoo user names and found that most of them are active, although email addresses are inactive.
However, if you continue to use the company as your email service, it is a good idea to change your password immediately.
