Verizon has removed the ability to automatically forward incoming emails from a Yahoo inbox to another email address for users which is not Yahoo.
This operation will stop on January 1, 2021.
Yahoo Mail users who still want to use automatic email forwarding will need to sign up for Yahoo Mail Pro, which costs $ 34,99 a year or $ 3,49 a month.
Verizon announced the change earlier this month and has now begun notifying users via email.
"We evaluate them regularly products and our services based on current security standards and we decided to catslowWe're adding this feature to ensure free Yahoo Mail accounts remain secure," the company said in a statement. FAQ page published on October 31st.
Automatic email forwarding is often used by hackers who break into email accounts and add their own email address to receive copies of all messages a victim receives.
However, the feature is also very often used by most users to pool their emails into a single account.
Yahoo says that from the new year, all email promotion rules will be disabled and users who want to read their emails should visit the Yahoo Mail website.
Yahoo Mail must have more than three billion users. Many have abandoned the company's services after Yahoo announced two major violations in the fall of 2016, one in September and one in December.
Personally, I wonder why these 3 billion users still choose Yahoo, after all that the company has gone through. I hope today's news makes many change email providers.
