The White House blocks Yahoo Mail as unsafe

Security issues in Yahoo Mail. The increasing trend of ransomware around the world also had a victim on Capitol Hill, causing concern in the White House IT office.

Gizmodo reports that the support team issued a notification to all White House staff at the end of April, explaining that there has been a significant increase in ransomware μέσω Web-based υπηρεσιών ηλεκτρονικού uh, like Yahoo Mail.

For this reason, the White House IT team blocked access to Yahoo service until further notice.Yahoo Mail

According to Symantec's latest security threat report (was posted last month), the frequency of e-mail phishing has been drastically reduced over the last three years.

However, incidents involving ransomware attacks (encrypting their victims' records and requiring ransom to unlock them) are on the rise, having increased by 35% from 2015.

Although e-mail services such as Gmail and Yahoo Mail are trying to filter out these scams, malware often reaches users' inbox.

According to the White House IT team, the recent attacks that have been discovered seem to come from known senders and include zip files attached, making it difficult for the general public to spot them and avoid opening them.
