YouTube: delete 7,8 million videos and 1.6 million channels

Google he published yesterday the YouTube Community Guidelines Enforcement report for the third quarter of 2018.

The report says YouTube deleted 7,8 million , 224 million comments and 1,6 million channels in the third quarter of 2018, due to violations of company policy.

The majority of videos and comments removed from YouTube bythey happened automatically. YouTube scripts automatically removed 6,3 million videos and 223 million comments from the site. The remaining 1,5 million videos and 1 million comments were reported on YouTube in other ways.

Requests from companies, or from various governments led to the deletion of 34.000 videos. 547.000 videos were removed, following complaints from users of the service and 878.000 were discovered by members of the preYouTube's Trusted Flagger.

74,5% of all videos tagged by YouTube's automated system were not viewed at all by the website and "over" 90% of the videos uploaded in September 2018 that were deleted for violent or extremist content had less than 10 views according to YouTube.

Spam is the first reason why videos are deleted. About 72% of all videos removed were because they were labeled as misleading, scams or spam. Child safety, nudity or sexual harassment, and violence were at 23%.

YouTube channels receive warnings when they violate some of the company's policies. Youtube terminates the channels after three warnings.

All videos on these channels are deleted. YouTube therefore deleted 1,6 million channels in the third quarter of 2018 and this led to the removal of 50,2 million videos from these channels.

Please note that Youtube is under great pressure to quickly identify and erase certain types of content.

  1. Of course no one knows if the videos that are deleted are what the company says or deletes and others that are not related to the so-called
It is a good idea not to delete the videos (obviously they will not hold what is criminal) and everyone who uploads them is responsible for it.
Otherwise we have another example of censorship.
