The Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate of the Hellenic Police, as part of the actions to deal with the phenomenon of child pornography via the Internet, carried out the latest targeted investigations nationwide, under the code name "Zeppelin".

In particular, officers of the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate conducted online police investigations, through the special CPS program software (Child ), which aimed to identify cases of sharing of flagged child pornography files.

The result of the targeted online investigations was to identify particularly significant cases of delinquent behavior, from of the internet, with a key criterion being the number and type of files observed being circulated on the various file sharing networks.

Specifically, it was established that users of the Internet, using ninety-nine (199) different IP addresses, belonging to different service providers, held and were suitable for sharing files (images and videos) containing hard-copy material of pornography of minors .

The data and the results of the investigations were brought to the attention of the Athens Prosecutor's Office and a Resolution of the Athens Criminal Council was issued, according to which the confidentiality of the communications was ordered to be lifted.

As part of the ongoing online policing s, the involvement of five (5) users - owners of internet connections and residents in various areas of Attica and in Thessaloniki - was digitally identified.

More specifically, for these cases:

- In collaboration with and with the assistance of police officers of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, a search was carried out at the home of a Cypriot citizen in Thessaloniki, where five (5) hard drives were found and confiscated.

- Also, home surveys were conducted in areas of Attica, specifically:

  • in a home of 48 a native of Agioi Anargyroi, where a laptop was found and seized,
  • in a 37 home in Korydallos, nothing has been found about the case, and in this case it investigates the possible involvement of third parties,
  • in a 39 home in Cholargos, eleven (11) hard drives and one (1) portable storage device (usb stick) were seized and seized, and
  • in a 43 home in Athens, three (3) hard disks were seized and confiscated.

In the latter case, 43 was arrested in the context of the autonomous proceedings and was brought to the Prosecutor's Office in Athens, while for the rest of the parties, the filed documents were submitted to the competent Prosecutor's Offices.

Seized evidence will be sent to forensic laboratories for the necessary laboratory analyzes.
