Conrad Longmore from Dynamoo Blog states that the specifics messages ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου έρχονται με τίτλο “Your friend has just sent you a pic” ή στα Ελληνικά “Ο φίλος σας μόλις σας έστειλε μια photo.” The messages prompt recipients to open a WhatsApp photo, which comes as an e-mail attachment.
Emails of course have nothing to do with the WhatsApp application. The attached file has name IMG003299 and extension .exe. Of course the name of the attachment can be changed. That is, it is an executable file that contains malicious Wauchos family software. The threat is currently detected by only 9 antiviruses as reported by the VirusTotal.
