The Massachusetts Institute of Technology it never ceases to amaze us. New presentation του αφορά έναν τροχό που μετατρέπει αυτόματα σχεδόν οποιοδήποτε bike in an electric-hybrid vehicle using a smartphone app.
The device, called the Copenhagen Wheel (Copenhagen Wheel) can be installed on the rear axle of a bicycle wheel. Everything else is "simple." A built-in computer, batteries and sensors that monitor how difficult it is for the rider to ride can automatically start an engine when support is needed. The device uses wireless connectivity to communicate with the rider's smartphone to control the distance traveled and altitude. The app records the number of calories burned and can lock the steering wheel distance when the owner moves away from the bike.
"The engine works with the rider moving very smoothly," said Assaf Biderman, one of the people who discovered the device at the MIT SENSEable City Lab, where he is deputy director. "It's like having a companion on your bike that will make your ride easier."
The Copenhagen Wheel generates enough energy to propel a rider with 60 kilometers την ώρα, αλλά οι κατασκευαστές έχουν θέσει όρια speeds in the software to cover local speed limits, allowing around 25km in Europe.
Pre-orders have begun and delivery is expected in May of 2014.
