The Windows 8.1 are expected to receive a new important update in a few days. Of course, Microsoft has not issued any official confirmation.
Update 2 for Windows 8.1 is expected to be released in August (specifically next week), bringing small performance improvements although Microsoft had initially promised much more significant changes in this particular version.
In April at the BUILD 2014 developer conference in San Francisco, Microsoft said that the upcoming Windows 8.1 update will bring back the Start menu, as well as options to run apps from Metro in their own windows on the desktop.
It turns out that Microsoft has changed its mind and is more focused on the development of Window 9.
As mentioned above, the company declined to disclose any details about the upcoming product, which you expect to release on the second Tuesday of the month, through Window Update, along with the other fixes.
This could be probably the latest update to Window 8.1, as Microsoft is developing Window 9. Windows 9 is expected to be released in April 2015, and a third update for Windows 8.1 could be released early next year.
Windows 3 Update 8.1 could be the product to prepare Windows 8 devices to install Windows 9. Microsoft plans to offer Windows 9 free to those who have already installed Windows 8-8.1.
Update: Microsoft has just officially announced the update, effectively disproving the rumors that wanted the product name as "Update 2." You can read more than here.
