Η Google detects your email only for child abuse content and no other criminal activity. The company's statement came after dcrackdown that arose when the police arrested a Gmail user trafficking material for child abuse.
It's not the first time the company does that. "Each image of child sexual abuse gives a unique digital footprint that allows our systems to detect it," said a Google spokesman.
It should be noted that Google and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children have been working together for years, creating a joint database that contains pictures child abuse. Each of them has a unique "hash", as it is known in its world technologys, which is essentially a fingerprint. Scans of the company's systems essentially look for these fingerprints. Google is legally required to report any such discoveries within its systems.
