Every year, a member of the Ubuntu community, Nathan Haines organizes a Showcase competition in one of his groups Flickr for the best Wallpaper of the upcoming version of the popular operating system. So again this year those interested should join the Flickr group along with many other artists and submit their designs for the competition.
The group is called Free Culture Showcase wallpaper and concerns the Wallpapers that will come with the coming Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus).
We should mention that this is not a contest that will win you money or any other big prize. But if the picture you are among the finalists, you will have the satisfaction of viewing the systems of millions of Ubuntu users around the world.
“Whether on desktop, phone or tablet, your photo can be the first thing people see users of Ubuntu from the Ubuntu welcome screen or on their desktop," Nathan Haines reports in a recent post on his blog.
How can you take part in the competition?
First, you'll need to have a Flickr account, which usually requires a Yahoo email address (if you're still using the service). Then you should join the Flickr group “Ubuntu 17.04 Free Culture Showcase - Wallpapers"
Make sure you read the rules carefully before submitting your images to be uploaded to the Flickr page.
The contest will run until March 5, 2017.
If you still have questions, you can read more information on the dedicated Ubuntu wiki at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuFreeCultureShowcase.
Winners will be announced before the release of the final Beta of Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus), which will be on March 23, 2017 (if all goes well with development). The final version of Ubuntu 17.04 will be released on April 13, 2017.
