PayPal today announced its partnership with Skype, which allows users to Greece and in 21 other countries to send money to other Skype users with PayPal through the Skype mobile app.
With over one billion Skype downloads on mobile to date, users will be able to use PayPal directly from Skype application to send money seamlessly - for example for a gift to a family member in their own country or abroad.
P2P payments are one of the biggest driving forces for consumer engagement for PayPal.
More than 7 million dollars per hour are sent to friends and relatives worldwide via PayPal P2P, Venmo and Xoom. By working with Skype, we enable P2P payments with PayPal in more places and in different circumstances – where people connect online and mobile devices – such as through a voice command with Siri, in a chat with Slack and in an email through Microsoft Outlook.com.
The ability to send money via PayPal on Skype is starting mode today for PayPal and Skype users in the United States, United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy , Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.
The app will initially be available to Skype customers using the latter version of Skype for mobile Appliances iOS and Android.
