CCleaner 5.36 is available for download from the official website of and comes as an update for CCleaner Professional users.

Those who use the free version can download the portable version from the page that comes with no adware.

Emergency Updater is a new feature of CCleaner that comes with its own executable file called CCUpdate.exe and a new scheduled task called CCleaner Updater.

The integration of the Emergency Updater into the updated it is likely a response to the recent hack on the company's infrastructure. The attackers managed to install malicious code in CCleaner, which was circulating for about a month through the company's official website.

Piriform has released a new version of the prowith a new digital signature, but was unable to distribute it to its users s due to the lack of the automatic update feature.

Piriform, which belongs to Avast from 2017, has used Avast's featured extraordinary briefing as a model for the development of the CCleaner Emergency Updater.

The CCleaner default cleaning rules also change.

The second major change of the new version 5.36 changes some of the pre rulesof cleaning. The default rules are those set when the program is run the first time.

Perhaps the biggest change is that the updated application will no longer delete browsing data by default. The change affects Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera, Safari, and Thunderbird applications.

The 5.36 version will no longer clear the Windows Defender scan history, Microsoft Office MRUs, most recently used documents, and other Windows Explorer MRU files.
