Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver): Το Ubuntu είναι ένα ανοικτού κώδικα, ελεύθερο και δωρεάν λειτουργικό σύστημα βασισμένο στον πυρήνα Linux. Το όνομά του προέρχεται από την έννοια ubuntu των Ζουλού και Κόσα (Xhosa), που ερμηνεύεται ως “ανθρωπιά προς τον άλλον”, καθώς και “Είμαι αυτό που είμαι λόγω αυτού που όλοι είμαστε.”
Ubuntu was launched in 2004, based on the Debian distribution. The goal of the distribution is to provide a constantly updated, stable operating system for the average user, with an enhanced emphasis on ease of use and installations. Ubuntu has been described as the most popular Linux distribution for desktop computers, and according to Valve it is on about 45% (21 Mar 2015) of all computers with distributions based on the Linux kernel.
Ubuntu is sponsored by Canonical Ltd., a private business που ιδρύθηκε από τον Νοτιοαφρικανό επιχειρηματία Mark Shuttleworth. Η company instead of selling Ubuntu, it earns revenue from the paid technical support it provides for its product.
So today and according to the Release Schedule we have the first RC (Release candidate) of the upcoming Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) distribution.
The RC corrects minor bugs that occurred after the Final Beta release released on April 5 of 2018.
