On Monday, New Year's Eve, a group hackers ανακοίνωσε ότι παραβίασε μια δικηγορική εταιρεία που χειρίζεται υποθέσεις που σχετίζονται με τις επιθέσεις της 11ης Σεπτεμβρίου. Η ομάδα απείλησε να δημοσιεύσει εσωτερικά αρχεία αν δεν πάρει ransom from the companies involved.
The group called The Dark Overlord had previously hit one of his production studios Netflix,
In its announcement posted on Pastebin, The Dark Overlord group mentions various insurance and law firms namely Hiscox Syndicates Ltd, Lloyds of London and Silverstein Properties.
"Hiscox Syndicates Ltd and Lloyds London are among the largest insurance companies in the world that insure everything from the smallest companies to some of the largest in the world such as the World Trade Centers," the statement said.
At present we do not know exactly what files the team has stolen, but it seems to be trying to exploit the conspiracy theories surrounding the 11 September attacks.
"We will provide many answers to the 9.11 conspiracies through the 18.000 secret documents we obtained," he said. a tweet on Monday.
One millionfaceof the Hiscox group confirmed on the Motherboard that the hackers had broken a law firm that advised the company and probably stole records related to 11's September attacks.
"Our law firm systems are not connected to Hiscox IT infrastructure and Hiscox systems were not affected by this incident."
Once Hiscox was informed of the violation of the law firm's data, he took action and informed the parties as required. We will continue to work with law enforcement authorities in the United Kingdom and the US on this issue.
The hacking team published a few letters, emails and other documents reported by various law firms, such as the Transport Security Administration (TSA) and the Federal Aviation Administration. The leaked documents are not important, but the group says it can leak more.
In the text published by The Dark Overlord, it includes a link to an 10GB file with allegedly stolen files. Files are encrypted, but hackers are threatening to release decryption keys, unless their victims pay the ransom they requested in Bitcoin.
Pay the fuck up, or we're going to bury you with this. If you continue to fail us, we'll escalate these releases by releasing the keys, each time a Layer is opened, a new wave of liability will fall upon you
