Cardiologist sues Apple for heart rate detection

New York doctor sues Apple, claiming Watch device uses his technique to detect irregular heartbeat .

A New York University cardiologist believes that Apple attached to its device his own of the heart. This is Dr. Joseph Wiesel, who sued Apple alleging that the watch uses a atrial fibrillation detection method, which is patented by him.

Wiesel claims that he spoke to Apple in September 2017 about the patent, but that the company "refused to negotiate in good faith" and gave him no choice but to sue.

The doctor hopes to prevent Apple from using the atrial fibrillation detection method without paying the royalties. For its part, Apple has not yet commented on this lawsuit.
