The Rescatux is a live GNU/Linux distribution based on Debian. The distribution includes a graphical guide to rescuing corrupted GNU / Linux installations.
But besides this there are other rescue options available that include resetting the GRUB boot loader after some Windows installation, resetting passwords on Linux and Windows systems and also checking on Linux file systems.
The latest snapshot, Rescatux 0.73, is based on the Debian 10 Buster and brings several fixes and improvements.
“Rescatux 0,73 has been released. The last stable version of Rescatux was released in October 2012 – that's about eight years ago. Many changes have taken place at Rescatux since then. Added options for UEFI in 2015. Added support for Secure Boat.
Rescapp had some serious usability weaknesses that have been fixed. When you ran an option you never knew if it worked well. Now the status for the selection is also displayed. Finally, the complete nightmare of popups that used to appear when you ran a selection have been replaced by nice scrolling ones messages with color. One of the best improvements made recently.
Rescatux 0.73 supports booting from UEFI Secure Boot and traditional BIOS. Amd64 and i686 systems are supported. ”
