Microsoft finally released new Edge browser based on Chromium. Interested parties had to download and install the new browser manually, as Microsoft had stated that it would promote Edge through Windows Update.
Apparently the time has come. Microsoft has released the updates KB4541301, KB4541302 and KB4559309, which update and replace the company's old browser with the new Chromium-based Edge.
Updates will be available for Windows 10 version 1803 and all later versions up to the latest Windows 10 version 2004.
Note that there is a difference between installing the new Microsoft Edge browser manually and using the Windows Update. The new Edge replaces the old browser in both cases, but if you install the application manually it can be removed to reappear the classic version of Microsoft Edge.
