Microsoft has confirmed a new print error in Windows 10, and states that it occurs after installing the latest cumulative updates released through Patch Tuesday June 2020.
The problem it also appears to be in Windows 4557957 cumulative update KB10, which is the first cumulative update for Windows 10 version 2004 (May 2020 Update).
Microsoft reports that after installing these updates, the printers could not work and that the same error also affects PDF printers.
“After installing this update, some printers may not print. Printing may fail or stop unexpectedly. You may also experience problems with the applications you are trying to print from. You may see an error from the application or the application may close unexpectedly”, he says Microsoft.
The bug is in the following cumulative updates:
June 9, 2020 - KB4557957 (OS Build 19041.329)
June 9, 2020 - KB4560960 (OS Builds 18362.900 and 18363.900)
June 9, 2020 - KB4561608 (OS Build 17763.1282)
Currently, there is no workaround to restore printers on a device experiencing the error, and Microsoft says (again) that it is already developing an update and will release it at a later date. The time was not set by the company.
Unfortunately, the only way to fix the whole issue is to remove the updates responsible for the error, which is of course not recommended because it leaves your device without the latest security updates.
The good news is that not all printers seem to be affected. Microsoft has not yet released any specific bug details.
