Canonical has released updated ISOs for Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS. This release brings together all bug fixes, app updates, performance improvements and security updates that have been released on “Focal Fossa” since its release in April.
The result is a new ISO that is ready to use or installation reducing the number of required updates after a fresh install.
But there is another reason why the arrival of the point release is great news.
The users systems running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) will see a notification asking if they want to upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04.
Until anyone running an older version of LTS and wanted to upgrade to a newer version had to do so manually (either by selecting non-LTS versions in the Software & Updates tool or by running a command in the terminal).
From today this will no longer be necessary. It is possible to upgrade directly from 18,04 LTS to 20,04 LTS.

Ubuntu LTS versions are the most popular versions of Ubuntu since they offer a stable, reliable experience to any user who is tired of Microsoft games. The three month period between an LTS release (April) and the first point release gives Ubuntu more time to fix any bugs discovered recently.
Those of you who are in version 20.04 do not need to "upgrade" to "download" this version because, from a technical point of view, you already have it! Just install any updates every time they are released and you will be OK.
Ubuntu 20.04.1 uses the same Linux and xserver kernel as the original release in April, Linux 5.4.
