KB4576754 Edge installation without uninstallation

Microsoft was released KB4576754, a new update that installs the Edge browser on Windows 10 2004 and all older versions.

After installing the above update, the appears installed and pinned on the taskbar while the uninstall button is gray in the list of installed applications.

Microsoft had used the same method to install Edge on Windows 10 users of version 1803. Now, the released KB456754 will do the same in Windows 10, versions 1809, 1903, 1909 and 2004.

The update KB456754 circulates as quality information, so will be installed automatically. After that, the classic Edge will disappear and you will no longer be able to uninstall the Chromium-based browser version.

Not at least in the orthodox way.

What's new in KB456754

  • The Start menu shortcut, tiles, and shortcuts for the current version of Microsoft Edge will show the new Microsoft Edge.
  • The new Microsoft Edge will be pinned to the taskbar.
  • The new Microsoft Edge will add a shortcut to the desktop.
  • By default, most protocols used by Microsoft Edge will be ported to the new Microsoft Edge.
  • Trying to boot the old version of Microsoft Edge will redirect to the new Microsoft Edge.
