Installing the latest Windows updates can sometimes be disastrous.
So there are many users who prefer not to update their system immediately, to make sure that there will be no errors or, at worst, not to delete data.
Microsoft's operating system doesn't have a built-in option to permanently prevent updates from being installed, but there are several ways to do so. One of them is application Kill-Update.
It's a user-friendly tool that blocks Windows updates without having to do much. The executable is around 350 KB in size and the program is portable, meaning you do not need to install it.
Just run the application with administrator privileges (right click on the executable and open as administrator), because it will have to manage system services.
Kill-Update runs on background, and you will see a lock icon in the system tray. Right-click on it and click “Locked”. That's it, with two clicks you can prevent Windows updates.
If you want to update Windows, turn off the "Locked" option and it will allow you to update your operating system.
The mobile application does not prevent Windows Defender updates as it has another option that states "Windows Defender Allowed". The setting is not pre-enabled, so make sure you enable it if you are using Windows Defender.
Kill-Update is one software open source and Virus Total shows it clean.
