KDE Project today released KDE Frameworks 5.79, a monthly open source software update that contains 83 additional libraries in Qt to provide the functionality required in the KDE Plasma interface.
Highlights of KDE Frameworks 5.79 include a much-improved Dolphin file manager that now handles better files containing non-ASCII characters, supports thumbnail previews for .ANI animated Windows cursor files, and is no longer interrupted when you skip copy or move a large number of files in quick succession.
Additionally, when you open a file in a KDE application that was downloaded from a browser, you can regain access to the file site.
Okular Document Viewer also has, like, the KDE Connect app that lets you manage notifications from your Android smartphone. KDE Connect can now better manage more alerts without any downtime.
Updated System Settings to not crash when navigating to the Lock page's “Appearance” tab screens.
This version also adds support for KDE applications to remember the minimized or maximized window state when closed and reopened, adds the ability to edit the .desktop with without "freezing" the Plasma desktop session.
KDE Frameworks 5.79 brings a new system tray icon and better support for tray applets with expandable lists actions when using non-default fonts or font sizes
There are generally over 300 changes in this version and you can see them at changelog.
