23 websites betting and gambling hit the Electronic Crime Prosecution.
Targeted actions by the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office to combat illegal betting via the Internet, in the framework and conduct of the World Cup in Brazil
During the police investigations, 23 websites of gambling and betting service providers were identified through Internet without legal permission
Illegal betting activity also related to World Cup soccer matches held in Brazil
In the context of targeted actions to combat illegal online gambling, twenty-three (23) filed case studies of online gambling service providers were formed by the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office, which provided these services without the legal license .
In particular, in the context of a preliminary examination, following orders from the Athens Prosecutor's Office, a thorough and thorough police and digital-internet investigation was carried out by the Special Group for Combating Gambling and Illegal Gambling .
The survey, which analyzed electronically traces and digital data, involved twenty-three (23) websites, gambling providers and online gambling providers.
As it turned out, the above websites - providers were operating without a legal license, have not been subject to the transitional regime of article 50 of Law 4002/2011 and are not related to a similar licensed business based in Greece.
Illegal betting activity also involved World Cup soccer matches held in Brazil.
The investigation led to the identification of the countries of management and registration of the disputed domain names and in particular showed that the management and the servers (servers) of the twenty-three (23) websites are located in various foreign countries, namely in the United Kingdom, the British Virgin Islands, Belize, Gibraltar, Austria, Malta, Panama, Sweden, Russia and Israel.
As part of the investigation of the case, relevant correspondence was also carried out – information of the independent administrative Authority, Gaming Supervision and Control Committee (G.E.P.), which is responsible for the supervision and control of the games.
It is noted that these illegal sites are included in the list of the Hellenic Football Federation. which includes websites displayed and offering gambling services in Greece without a "black list".
Upon completion of the survey, it is no longer possible to access the above websites from our internet service providers (block IP process).
The files that were filed were submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of Athens.
