With this program, he has been able to retrieve and copy a plethora of simple and sensitive personal data from users (personal photos, videos, etc.)
So far his involvement has been identified in one hundred sixteen (116) cases of deception and two attempts, while his involvement in other similar cases is investigated
From the Greek Police's Electronic Crime Prosecution Department, it was crafted after a specialized police investigation, a series of privacy, personal data and invasion of computer users' Internet systems.
As an actor, 12.11.2014 was identified and arrested in the morning, in an area of Athens, a 28-year-old national who, acting on a habitual basis and repeatedly, gained access to personal internet PCs via a remote remote management program.
With this process, he has been able to retrieve and copy a plethora of simple and sensitive personal user data. So far, it has identified its involvement in one hundred sixteen (116) cases of deception of women in two attempts, while its involvement in other similar cases is being investigated.
Prior to its Modus operandi, the person arrested during the 2013 May and October of 2014, using three "profiles" on the social networking site "Facebook", with the aim of acquiring with unfair and illegally accessing third-party computing systems and personal data, misleadly misled the victims to give them access to their personal computer files, with a specific remote management program.
In particular, the actor approached young girls, mostly students of various University Institutions, to whom they sent friendship requests, to their "profiles" on this website, as well as to their online friends, underlining the postgraduate student at the University of Piraeus.
Indeed, in order to achieve his goals, he falsely told them that in the frames of his diplomatic work, it was necessary to "remotely" control their personal computers to see if they had malicious software or viruses to "try" strength and effectiveness of a new antiviral program.
After finally convincing them, he asked them to install a specific remote management program, with which he gained full access to their computer systems, without their knowledge and then retrieved - copied a wealth of their personal data, digital files (photos and videos, including erotic content, etc.).
The Electronic Crime Investigation Directorate investigated the cases with correspondence with the relevant social networking site, thorough digital research and analysis of the data and case details as well as electronic traces and correspondence with the relevant mobile and fixed providers telephony.
From the methodical and long-term police and digital research, the aforementioned was identified as the manager of the "profile" in question on the social networking pages through which he was involved in the illegal activity.
In the morning hours of today (12.11.2014), an episode of lawful investigation was carried out at a police station in the Electronic Crime Division, in an area of Athens, where the illegal digital activity was verified by the on-site digital screening of specialized officers.
In addition, a number of simple and sensitive personal data (digital files), that is, thousands of photos, videos, etc., were stored in digital media it held. which he had taken away from the victims, unfairly with the above manner of action for the purpose of their fraudulent exploitation.
Three 3 internal hard drives, two (2) external hard drives, and one (1) external USB portable disk were found and seized and sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for appropriate laboratory tests to determine precisely the magnitude of the digital data he had extracted in that illegal way.
Of the (116) total cases, 16 has been terminated and identified, while the rest (100) has been confessed by the offender and a search is being carried out to locate the victims.
It is noted that the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate had received a number of complaints (by phone, documents and via e-mail), on a daily basis for the action of the arrested, while his participation - involvement in other similar crimes is being investigated.
The perpetrator with the filed case file, directed against him, is brought to the Attorney of the First Instance of Athens.
