AAAS: Telescopic vision became reality

AAAS: Optician Eric Tremblay has unveiled a unique contact lens that provides the wearer with telescopic vision. The lens was unveiled earlier this year at the annual of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), in San Jose, California.telescopic vision AAAS

According to AAAS, the new contact lens, a more advanced model than the first one released in 2013. It is 1,55 mm thick and has a very thin, reflecting telescope, which allows the user to zoom in and out literally with one wink of his eye.AAAS

How does it work;

According to the research team, which από τον Tremblay (της ελβετικής Ομοσπονδιακής Πολυτεχνικής Σχολής της Λωζάννης) συμπεριλαμβάνει και ερευνητές από το Πανεπιστήμιο του San Diego της California, από το Paragon Sciences, Innovega, and from Pacific Sciences and Engineering and Rockwell Collins, “Small interior mirrors reflect light around, expanding the perception of the size of objects – they magnify the view, so it's like looking through a magnifying glass.”

Correct. Telescopic vision.

Other important ones include oxygen permeability by placing in tiny air channels about 0,1 mm wide on the lens surface. The feature allows oxygen to circulate around and under the lens. Along with the lens were also developed "smart" glasses that respond to the user's nods, allowing him to change almost effortlessly from regular magnified eyesight, opening his eyes.

AMD is one of the main causes of blindness in the elderly.

"We believe these lenses hold great promise for low vision caused by age-related macular degeneration. At this point we are still in the research stage, but we are optimistic that one will eventually happen choice for people with AMD,” said Tremblay.
