Really what the job Edward Snowden when she was working on her Booz Hamilton for NSA; Most of us have the impression of being a system administrator or network administrator. Its original story Guardian described him as a former CIA technical assistant and now an employee of the CIA Booz Allen Hamilton who has a contract with the NSA.
Η The Washington Post described him as a "tech expert" who had access to all the documents he had released.
Nevertheless in the video of the interview that presented him for the first time in the world, said he was an "infrastructure analyst" who had previously worked for the CIA as a systems and telecommunications manager. Today, the newspaper New York Times says his job title is more revealing than it seems to be:
It is a title that high-ranking officials avoided very carefully to mention, perhaps because of the fear of inviting questions about the aggressive tactics of the organization: an NSA infrastructure analyst, is like a burglar in a block of flats looking for new ways of violating.
…. A secret presidential directive presented by Mr. Snowden on his cyber-activities to the NSA makes it clear that when the agency's technicians consider vulnerabilities for intelligence gathering. They also study foreign communications and electronic systems to identify potential targets in a future cyber-war.
Infrastructure analysts, such as Mr Snowden, in other words, are not just looking for China's electronic door computers or Iranian mobile phone networks to steal secrets. They have a dual purpose: to create a list of targets that will be useful if US leaders in a future conflict order destruction of hard drives or phone systems.
Stuart Staniford suspected at first that this could have been Snowden's role. Three weeks ago she wrote:
I imagine Snowden was not an cyber-intruder targeting government payroll. He is described as secretive, computer-savvy, and knowledgeable about things like Tor. In his last job he worked at an NSA threat detection center, which suggests knowledge of computer security. He previously worked for the CIA, having a role that is not clear…
Kevin Drum of her Motherjones ρώτησε τον Glenn Greenwald μέσω του Twitter, αν Snowden είχε περιγράψει τη δουλειά του με περισσότερες λεπτομέρειες κατά τη διάρκεια της συνεντεύξεις τους. Εκείνος απάντησε : “Περίπου, θέλει να δείχνει χαμηλότερου επιπέδου από ότι ήταν πραγματικά.” Βέβαια κανέις δεν είναι σίγουρος τι σημαίνει αυτό.
The case has many unanswered questions. We would like to know more about what people like Snowden are doing for the NSA. Was he working on network security? Was he an analyst of systems and threats? Was he himself searching for vulnerabilities in NSA networks? How Much Does He Know About NSA Programs?
For reasons no one can fathom, the information Snowden has is not being published. It's definitely in the middle government, but what about journalists who refuse to publish what they know?
Why not all the 37 pages that describe the program are published PRISM; Why can't we know? The Washington Post published four of them presenting some very interesting information. Since then theme ceased to exist. Is it the pressure of the government in the media or has something changed in Snowden's way of thinking?
