AI recognizes disguised faces in demonstrations

Μια ομάδα ερευνητών από το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και την Ινδία έχουν αναπτύξει ένα AI που μπορεί να εντοπίσει ανθρώπους χρησιμοποιώντας βαθιά μάθηση (deep learning) για να ενισχύσει τις ικανότητες αναγνώρισης του , even when some physical features are hidden.

What does this mean; you could be identified from surveillance footage and photographs, regardless of whether you cover your face with a hat, scarf, or beard.

The Deep Learning examines 14 points in a person and measures the distances between them to identify people.

By compiling AI with different datasets, the team managed to achieve a 56% success rate to locate disguised individuals.

As this particular one looks it is not perfected yet, as this success rate drops to 43% when the person wears glasses.

Tip: If you intend to attend a protest, it is advisable to wear glasses to protect your privacy.

The risk, as the paper says, is that such systems could be constantly improved and used by governments to identify dissenting citizens.
