New anonymous blows: In the week that passed us on Monday, 14 December, a massive DDoS 40 Gbps attack hit the DNS Turkey servers run by NIC.tr.
NIC.tr is the service of Turkey which manages the country's main DNS servers and .tr domains.
In a video posted on YouTube, Anonymous claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was part of the online war against ISIS, and the #OpISIS campaign.
According to the group, "Turkey supports ISIS by buying oil from them and treating its fighters."
Anonymous also said that their actions against ISIS in Turkey did not stop, but would continue to attack the country's DNS servers, banks, government buildings, airports, military and private facilities and connections.
In last week's DDoS attacks on Turkey's DNS servers, hackers managed to hit five of Turkey's main name servers, which eventually caved in and went offline on Monday night, taking with them over 400.000 websites that were using domain in .tr.
Servers reverted to Monday, but access to .tr sites was limited to a few trusted IPs, with most Turkish websites isolated from the Internet.
The attacks continued in the following days, on a smaller scale, with the Turkish DNS service "recovering" and coming to full operation by the end of the week.
