The company says:
Our research remains in progress, but we believe that a person has gained unauthorized access to the AOL network where some user information is stored.
AOL's announcement confirmed that it discovered the violation on Monday April 28 after a week of complaints from its users who reported spam being sent to their contacts.
The Virus Bulletin, on the other hand, reported that malicious links containing AOL's emails were leading Trojans targeting Android devices.
If you are a user of AOL Mail, change the password and security questions you were using.
If you use the same password for your AOL account and other websites, change your passwords immediately.
